A contractor reached out to us wanting to see if we could help with this project. The project included installing an Egress Only Door into an older fixed Hollow Metal window wall, the customer wanted to remove the center piece and install a door so the customer could have emergency egress operation to the exterior from a conference room in an emergency . The customer was specific, they wanted the door to blend in as if it was not a door looking from the exterior into the building.

With some careful measurements, we order a door to fit the opening. One challenge with this project was the grid in the glass , each piece of glass is individual and creating the sam e affect to match either side was proven to be difficult when ordering a door to match.

We cut the center section out, installed the new door . And because there was a threshold installed under the 3 sections originally, we were able to use it as the new egress door ’s threshold. W e installed a new V on Duprin exit device rim panic to meet egress , surface mount LCN c loser, and auto door bottom sweep seal. We fabricated Grid to glass stop to look like the grid width and height size by welding 1” metal . We then installed a glazing product to finish off the install, this door blends right in.

During the Pandemic and the unprecedented times with many riots happing around the country, this customer reached out to Door 28, Inc. inquiring what they could do to prevent or slow down protestors if they happen to come their way. This customer sells tactical equipment, guns, and ammo, the owner wanted to make sure it was not easy for anyone to get their hands on this type of merchandise. We began by taking measurements to accommodate the opening, at first, we thought we would be covering the entire storefront, we soon learned other than the doors, the remaining storefront is blocked on the interior.

The customer was only concerned with covering the doors, this install brought its own challenges. This building has a low overhang, meaning there was not enough head room from the top of the door to the lowest point of the overhang to fit the door. This proved to be no challenge for Door 28, Inc. with some slight modifications with the roll-up door head plates and cover/hood, the door was installed like a glove, tight and right. The operation of this door came out perfect. The customer expressed his satisfaction with some truly kind words following the install.

A reoccurring customer reached out to us inquiring on a security door that could cover their storefront’s automatic doors. They called and we came; we first began by understanding the customers need of their new door. This door was to be an inside between mount application, because of the jamb finish material it was important for this door to be the exact size, if the door came in too big or too small, we might be buying a new door.

With 120VAC power located at an instructed location by Door 28, Inc., the door was installed, tight but perfect! It was unknown the building construction material under the customer’s finished jambs, it was to the technicians surprise the jambs were constructed of concrete, which is the ideal application when installing a heavy-duty roll-up door. The technicians then installed the electric motor operator with a key switch down low for customers ease of operation.Following this install, following the install our customer mentioned, “Since having Door 28, Inc. as their door contractor they have no worry when it comes to their doors operations and or security.
